Cultivating curiosity starts with a desire to grow and asking ourselves simple questions. How am I feeling right now? Where does this feeling manifest in my body? Do I feel misaligned? If so, what caused this? Did my mood change? When and how did this occur? Is my pain being affected by something outside of my control? And finally – is there a lesson in this experience for me?
As we ask ourselves these questions, answers show up in different ways. Maybe we get an insight during a conversation or we have a dream that feels relevant. Maybe we simply find that we are more aware of ourselves in different situations. Maybe we begin to notice recurring thoughts or beliefs that show up when we feel reactive – like when we are in pain, feeling criticized, or during times of stress.
Getting curious provides insight into the way we operate and how we might begin to shift in order to feel better in body, mind, and spirit. Curiosity empowers us to become our own best expert by leading to a better understanding of ourselves. We learn how to find our own answers. We accept when we’re stuck and decide when outside help is needed. We are empowered to stop forcing solutions that either don’t exist or aren’t working and instead simply continue to get curious. “Huh, I’m feeling stuck here. What is going on inside me? What do I need to move forward?” With practice, we begin to feel confident in this process and within ourselves. Trust that getting curious will guide you not only to healing your pain, but also to stepping more fully into your true Self .
