The Magic of Intention

Love is not something you find, love is something that finds you when you let go of fear and embrace possibility.

-Deepak Chopra

It’s been roughly a year since my last blog post (A New Twist on an Old Blog), where I outlined my decision to venture into the realm of post-divorce dating. That entry was a declaration of my approach to this new phase of my life: to recommit to feeling all of my feelings (even in the face of others’ big feelings!), to live from Essence, and to follow the inner nudge to create in ways that are fun and exciting and express who I really am.

Holy freaking moly did the universe have some wild stuff in store from that little intention! None of which, apparently, included actually writing in my blog – for a solid year. And that’s okay, because, well…

Not long after I set that intention, I connected with a man over a couple of post-workshop professional Zoom calls. We’d met a month prior at an EPI workshop in Colorado (the same workshop I referenced in my last blog). He was interested in learning more about the EPI method and had decided to pursue a coaching program I was coordinating.

By the end of our second call, I was (secretly and rather alarmedly) quite sure I wanted to marry this man. And if not him (because at this point, I had no idea if any of these feelings were reciprocal), I knew that I definitely wanted to at least be with someone exactly like him.

Why? Because he was, well, unlike anyone I’d ever met before. And the way I felt while talking with him was also unlike any way I’d ever felt – wild and expansive and like I was vibrating on whole new level of consciousness. So, at some point, when my sister asked why I was no longer pursuing any online dating matches, my response was unequivocal: “Because they aren’t Zach Tyler!”

Unfortunately for me, Zach was, however, involved with someone else. So, I made sure to keep our calls as professional as possible and did not make it known that I was WILDLY attracted to him. Instead, I repeatedly reminded myself that those big feelings I felt were in me and that I could, theoretically, generate them whenever I wanted. I also put some solid effort into convincing myself that the reason this person came into my life was simply to show me that what I really want is out there. Eventually, he became like an avatar of sorts that painted a picture I could offer to the cosmic powers that be: Okay universe, if Zach is taken, could you please serve up someone like him?

Another month later, during what was supposed to be our final professional call (because I had officially run out of information to give him about the coaching program), I was pleasantly surprised when he made it known that he was now single. Much to my absolute delight, our conversation effortlessly shifted from work matters to personal topics that ended up lasting a whopping four hours.

And that was just the beginning.

After another week of hours-long conversations, Zach flew to Cincy for a weekend visit. Two weeks later, I was on a plane to Colorado visiting him. Other than a month or so while he was in Europe, we spent at least every other weekend together for the next 8 months (sometimes for multiple weeks at a time – thank you Frontier GoWild Pass and remote work for making this long-distance relationship possible!) travelling back and forth to visit each other for what would become the greatest (and most fun) adventure of my life thus far.

Today, as I sit here, writing in the room Zach and I now share (I’m officially a Coloradan!), I’m filled with awe and gratitude for the power of intention, the magic of love and connection, and how fun it is to consciously co-create with the universe and now, the love of my life.

As I refocus my energy and settle into this new chapter of my life, I’m revisiting the direction of my blog and my work. I’m thrilled to share that there are some exciting developments on the horizon, and I’d love to invite you to join me again as I dive into all things relationship, the wisdom of the body, living from Essence, the power of energy, and mostly just having a whole heck of a lot of fun in life.

I look forward to connecting with you again soon.

With love and gratitude,

Sarah

P.S. Curious about what an Evolutionary Power couples coaching session looks like? Here’s a YouTube video of Dr. Julie Colwell coaching me and Zach on stage last year.
