Anytime we are in force, we are in Reactive Brain.* In this state, resolutions to problems typically come painfully, if at all. Because we are experiencing narrow focus (and unable to see that there are all kinds of options), we are often left feeling exhausted, frustrated, disconnected from ourselves and others, and trying to force solutions.
When we are in Creative Brain,* however, “problems” are experienced much differently. Because our brains and bodies are now experiencing a much higher vibration, solutions flow easily, possibilities feel endless, and we feel connected to others, to ourselves, and to our purpose. In Creative Brain we know that our true power to affect change comes from within.
So how do we move out of force into power? We learn how to first recognize which state we’re in, decide if we’re willing to shift, and then take the steps to begin doing so. Once we’re up in Creative Brain, we can revisit the situation from a more positive state, and then get clear about what it is we really want and what our next best step might be.
If you’re feeling stuck, ask yourself if you are coming at your situation from a place of force or if you are grounded in your inner power. If you aren’t sure, check in to see if you’re in Reactive Brain? If so, consider letting go of the mind’s stories about why you need to continue being in force, and instead, turn toward your inner emotional experience. Ask yourself what sensations and feelings are you noticing? Can you allow whatever experience you’re having to be true and then breathe into this?
Today, trust that committing to a practice of connecting with your body, especially during times of force, will help you to shift out of frustration and energy drain and into the possibility and power of Creative Brain.
*Julie Colwell coined the terms and concepts of Reactive Brain and Creative Brain, which encompass all of states of consciousness – both those of reactivity/threat as well as those of expansion/rest and digest.
